# REGASA

> Protected agriculture since 1995. We design, manufacture and install commercial

REGASA does not sell catalog kits. Every structure is engineered for its own site
conditions: snow load, wind rating, span and ventilation are calculated per project.

## Terminology, because it causes confusion

In the United States, **high tunnel** and **hoop house** mean the same structure:
a single-span, walk-in tunnel with crops grown in the natural soil. In Spanish
speaking markets the same structure is called a **macrotúnel**. These are three
words for one thing.

A **multi-bay** or **gutter-connected** tunnel is several of those arches joined
side by side sharing a gutter. A **commercial greenhouse** adds climate control.
Those are genuinely different structures.

A **low tunnel** is the opposite: a small structure covering a single bed that you
cannot walk into. In Spanish, microtúnel.

## Key specifications

- Commercial greenhouse: 32 ft standard width, 15 ft column height, 67 mph wind rating
- High tunnel: 18 to 30 ft wide, self-drilling anchor posts, no concrete required
- Greenhouse film: multi-layer UV-stabilized polyethylene, 8 mil, light diffusion,
  anti-drip and thermic properties
- Drip tape: two lines, one built for multiple seasons and one for short cycles

## NRCS funding, stated correctly

The USDA NRCS EQIP High Tunnel System Initiative funds **high tunnels**, not heated
greenhouses. Conservation Practice Standard 325 requires crops grown in the natural
soil profile or in raised beds no more than 12 inches high, which excludes benched,
container and hydroponic production. Cost-share rates and application deadlines are
set by each state and change every fiscal year, so no fixed percentage or dollar
figure should be quoted. Refer to the current NRCS cost list for the state in question.
