What is fertigation?

Fertigation is the technique of applying fertilizer dissolved in the irrigation water. Instead of spreading fertilizer on the soil and waiting for rain or irrigation to move it, it is injected into the line and reaches the root zone of each plant dissolved, drop by drop. Irrigation and nutrition become a single operation.

Because the nutrient goes exactly where the roots are, at the moment the crop needs it, the plant uses far more of it and almost nothing is washed away. That is why fertigation, especially over drip, is the most efficient way to feed a crop today.
